Vacation and the holidays....

Wow, I haven't posted a blog entry since August? Where does the time go?

Last month I challenged myself to write a story, finish it in two weeks, and send it to an editor. To my amazement, I did it. I'm just really happy to have finished it being as I have a tendency to start stories and leave them unfinished for weeks, sometimes months, and even years.

The story I wrote is called "Venti Hot Americano. " The story is about a butch girl who flirts her way into the pants of another girl who works at a coffee shop and ends up getting her heart stolen. It's a funny, lighthearted erotic story with a sizzling scene set in the backseat of a car. I had fun writing it. I got my inspiration for it while hanging out at bookstores every week. anyways, I sent it off for submission into an anthology. Now we wait...and wait, and wait to see if it gets accepted or not.

I didn't go to New York City this year like I normally do and instead am upstate in Saratoga Springs where the pace is definitely alot slower. My girlfriend and I are here for Christmas with her parents, sisters, brother, and a bunch of rambunctious children with lots of energy. Good thing I brought my electronic gadgets with me. My itouch and droid cell phone kept them entertained for hours so we grownups could visit in peace. Thank goodness for free game apps.

So I mentioned the pace here....it's sloooow. Mostly because it's so damned cold and snows alot. I've had lots of time to do things that I normally wouldn't do like; slow my mind down long enough to enjoy my surroundings, post to this blog, work on some stories, and visit with my pal Chester here. He kept me company when everyone else went upstairs to bed... excuse me, I need to sneeze (sniffles). As you can see, he is a big, big dog. Compare the size of his head to my laptop case...that's a 15" case by the way. I'm allergic to him and have been sneezing the whole time but he's been the best company and not at all critical of my writing. I think he likes everything that I've been reading to him.

It's COLD here! I'm not used to weather like this. The other day I thought my eyeballs were going to freeze. I know I'm a winter wuss coming from Arizona but geezus, when the wind blows, it feels like your exposed parts are going to freeze!! I took the photos above at my girlfriend's sister's house. They've got a beautiful home with a stream next to it.

This photo is of the driveway up to their house. It's more like an icy slip and slide. There is NO WAY that this Arizona gal is going to attempt to drive up or down this EVER. I'll leave it up to everyone else. Yikes. I'll take my nice flat concrete drive-way any day lol.

Okay, it's getting late and the house is quiet again. Chester and I are going to work on a story tonight.

Hope you're having a wonderful holiday and let's hope 2010 is going to be the most creative, brightest, best year ever!!
